Is Now a Good Time to Buy Electronics in Canada? (March 2026)

We analyze current pricing trends across GPUs, CPUs, monitors, SSDs, and more to help you decide whether to buy now or wait.

With new product launches, seasonal sales cycles, and the ever-present exchange rate factor, it's hard to know if now is a good time to buy electronics in Canada. We track over 14,000 products across Canadian retailers — here's what the data says for March 2026.

GPUs: Wait If You Can

The RTX 5000 series just launched and prices are inflated above MSRP due to high demand. If you need a GPU now, look at last-gen cards (RTX 4070 Super, RX 7800 XT) which are dropping as retailers clear stock. If you want a 5070 or 5080, waiting 2–3 months should bring better pricing.

CPUs: Great Time to Buy

Both AMD and Intel have mature lineups right now with competitive pricing. Ryzen 7000-series and Intel 14th/15th gen processors are well-stocked and prices are stable. No major launches are imminent that would change the landscape, so if you need a CPU, buy now.

SSDs: Buy Now

SSD prices have been on a steady downward trend. 1TB NVMe drives are cheaper than ever, and 2TB is becoming the value sweet spot. There's no reason to wait — prices are unlikely to drop much further in the short term.

Monitors: Good Deals Available

The monitor market is flooded with options and prices are competitive. We're seeing good deals on 1440p 165Hz IPS panels in the $250–$350 range. OLED monitors are still premium-priced but dropping quarter over quarter.

RAM: Buy Now

DDR5 prices have stabilized at much lower levels than launch pricing. 32GB kits at 5600–6000MHz are affordable. DDR4 is even cheaper if you're on an older platform. No reason to wait.

Laptops: Mixed

New 2026 models with RTX 5000-series GPUs are arriving at premium prices. If you want the latest, wait for the initial launch premium to cool off. If you're happy with last-gen specs, there are excellent deals on 2025 models being cleared out.

The Bottom Line

For most categories, March 2026 is a decent time to buy in Canada. The main exception is new-gen GPUs, where patience will be rewarded. For everything else — CPUs, SSDs, RAM, monitors — prices are stable or declining, and there's no major reason to wait unless a specific sale event is coming up.
